Those that join us or stay with us for money's sake, leave us for the same reasons- Peter Block
Welcome to another brand new month with a new article to help you design your life.
Last month I particularly experienced some setbacks that were very upsetting. I have had to cut off some weak links worn off by the rust of discontentment . I mean, money issues severed some of my relationships.
Characteristically, was a young man who really felt entitled to a cash send off for all his voluntary efforts. This really got me a bit shaken. Not that I intended to take his labor in vain, but that he turned mutual goodwill to strife. His hardiness got me thinking about the money characters am yet to interact with under the sun.
I took some time off to meditate on the topic of contentment. Here is what I have to share with us.
Discontentment lingers in our minds and spirit in form of maladjusted desires.
Desires being overflows of the abundance of the heart are hard to tame and understand. Our hearts are deceitful And desperately wicked as prophet Jeremiah correctly observed. (JEREMIAH 17:9)
Day in day out our hearts are preyed upon by encroaching enticements that lure us to lose our souls. Such subtle predators overwhelm us when we are deceived by our own hearts and become discontent.
Since there is nothing inherently wrong with desires, we must be alert and cognizant that they have potential to lead us astray.
There is nothing wrong with desiring to be rich, but riches are deceitful.
There is nothing wrong with desiring a hot spouse, but looks are deceitful.
There is nothing wrong with being ambitious, but Greed is disguising.
There is nothing wrong with seeking your happiness, but pleasure is deceitful.
Let's beware of such wiles as:
Lust for outward lustre.
Greed for outward greener pastures.
Divorce for outward forces.
Selfishness for self-interest
Materialism for materials sake.
Covetousness for crowd conformation.
If we beware of such commodities, then our industry, achievements and success will well adjust the desires of minds and spirit to form a character of contentment. Lest we sail in the same ship with the rich fool who was found guilty of CORN-TENT-MENT!
