*Filled with the Holy Ghost*
Let me give it a try.
Act 2:4 And they were all *filled with the Holy Ghost* , and began to *speak with other tongues* , as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Note... They were filled with God. (Holy Spirit).
Being filled with the Holy Spirit is a significant point that shouldn't be crowded with the sign of tongues.
The sign of Tongues in the initial infilling of the Holy Spirit is key and worth celebrating because it is the consistent evidence in the scripture marking the receipt of the Holy Ghost.
Acts2:1-18, Acts 10:44-48, Acts 19:1-6
Even today, It's the only way to tell that a person has received the Holy Spirit.
Progressively, the indwelling of the Spirit has it fullest expression when you walk in Love (The fruit of the Spirit).
What the preacher wants is the Saint to be filled with the spirit. Not just tongues!
Why? it is very important in the work of the ministry.
Act 6:3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, *full of the Holy Ghost* and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
Act 11:24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.
Other than the initial infilling of the Holy Spirit... The scriptures also talk of Tongues in two significant ways.
2. Devotional Tongues
1 cor 14:1-2,4
Man speaking to God in Mysteries to edify themselves. Used privately for even in congregation setting.
3. Gift of diverse Tongues
1cor 12:10
God talks to man in a congregational setting. This needs to be interpreted. It ever happened to me once, but it was all prophetic and nothing wow! The service as you might imagine. The prophecy was actually on point though.
The question, of whether everyone should speak in tongues at all times is one that still intrigues me... I will answer it in another setting for those interested.
However, I do like Isaiah 28:9-11 perspective on Tongues.
Especially the part that says ~.... For them that are weaned from milk, and drawn from Breast.~ π©πΎπΌ
Ah, it's the best fillingπ
Hope that Helps.
