THE TEACHER'S DIGNITY

A TEACHER'S DIGNITY
we are the teachers branded as teachers serviced & commissioned employees. In intellectual humility we have offered our service as agents. Serving a complex society faced with undying corruption. We don't know what tomorrow will bring about yet we wake up in hope that today we will deliver a great lesson to preserve humanity.

As your agents we are forever in the receiving end. All cultural and ancestral baggage manifested in your family let alone from bedroom is evident in our classrooms. As we stand before our clients daily, we look at  that which can make your heart break and make you run to a land of no return. However, we see what we cant look at- A better future .Should we run from our inherited responsibility?
Humbly we take the blame.

We take the blame ,because we are just like you. We are parents, not perfect but parents. Unlike you ,We are on the pedestal to be analyzed and evaluated in the name of professionalism. We are at the centre of education reform recommendations. Our society needs better parents and we must produce them or ship out. If this a rational pursuit?

Just like our bosses ,we are all wrestlers of the unknown ,we fight poverty, ignorance and disease. Education is but a religion in this Battle,so is your corporate workplaces, homes and government, should the teacher be the sacrifice to appease the gods of impunity?

Impunity is a brother to the government. Black is never black, nor is white white. Everything is grey. Politics is the mother of government change. The most corrupt party will win and eventually be lord over all. The government is our boss, in Democratic goodwill his assembly saw it fit that our power be given to unions. In our naïveté we clapped knowing we have our unknown rights  preserved. Soon we were given a curriculum to make ourselves busy. Our job demands were made clear..COMPLY AND GIVE RESULTS, RESULTS AND RESULTS ONLY. Now we are in this Esau's quagmire... We sold our dignity to unions, can't face our employer eyeball to eyeball. How do we restore respect!

Soon we are going to strike, sleep on the roads, throw stones, light fire and sing our tune SOLIDARITY FOREVER. I hear demonstration are Democratic. Then we will be summoned for dialogue not us but our union representatives.

The media will soon declare we are a bad example to the kids. We should value the  MIGHTY bread dividing strategy of DIALOGUE. little do they realize that dialogue is a compromise in democracy. No compromise is 100%, if it is then it's not a comprises.

To reform our systems, is dialogue a way to restore communication?  If it's to work, dialogue must serve to put the power of dignity back to the teachers.
A concerned citizen... The struggle continues... http://fongere.blogspot.com
