THE THIN LINES IN SELLING YOUR DREAM

THE THIN LINES IN DREAM SELLING

Yesterday, I attended a meeting of young adults who were sharing on their experiences on high school ministry. They shared on how they had been doing in life, work, ministry. The terminologies that surfaced the conversation were like, interesting, tricky, not bad, the difference in… the meeting seemed to confirm the idea that our minds are poorly equipped to deal with conflicting lines of thought. Somehow we find it hard to express those thin lines that are not matters of life and death.

Someone tried to put it this way, “there is nothing than work-life balance, this begs the question, is life not part of life?”

This discussion held a special part in my mind ad moved me to add to my thematic bible chapters. 1corinthians 13- love chapter. Psalms 91-security chapter and now Luke 16-thin lines chapter. Here is how it plays out.

1.       Performance evaluations

Few people love to sit for exams. The possibility of failure stirs up fear in the heart and obscures judgment.

Most individuals try to hide from the reality that they are fallible beings. Getting an E grade is kin to being inhuman. Many people know their bosses are human, but they abhor the fact that they have the power to reward and punish based on how they evaluate them. Human beings loth being turned into performers.

Our biblical steward had an alternative to an evaluation that was sure to turn sour. He feared he would be fired, could neither dig nor had the guts to beg. He was between a hard place and a rock. Have you ever been in such shoes?

He came up with a value proposition to his target market.

Soon the boss realised the ball was in his court. If he fired him, this guy was a hot cake. If he retained him he would have to bear with unaudited accounts.

2.       Small beginnings

How can a man with a well massaged ego not despise humble beginnings?

If the point is money, then despise is inevitable. There are always higher ideals that put the love of money in check. In a consumerism world where more money seems to be the source abundance only evil manifests.

Money is not a source; it is a priority. Nothing comes originally by having money. It is a tool that is essential in moving many resources in life to their ultimate benefit. resources such as knowledge, relationships, land, time are all harnesses by this awesome tool.  It is with this resources that small beginnings have a dignified context.

So what do you do with your limited time, talent and tools?

3.       Relationships

I have read dozens of books that attempt to pose rational manual to working out relationships.

I believe you too might have read a couple. The challenge has always been the disconnect between theory and practice. It is evident that even our own dating philosophies often reach a savage point, and we throw our list of expectations out of the window.

The catch-22,in my opinion lies in managing performance evaluations and small beginnings.

This really messed up the relationship between the rich man and poor Lazarus  and determined their destinies.

I HEREBY RECOMMEND YOU TAKE TIME AND ENGAGE WITH LUKE 16.
